Skagway and Carcross

Skagway is pretty much a tourist trap and a lot of the businesses are actually owned by the cruise companies. IN the right hand picture you can see the cruise ships and there were 3 in port while I was there.

Felt pretty safe from this forest fire as it was on the other side of the lake.

This camp site was a BC recreation site but to get where I am parked I had to drive about a hundred metres on the rocky beach. Ended up being very private and right on the lake.

The scenic railway runs from Skagway to Carcross in the Yukon and is incredibly scenic. During the goldrush in 1898 it was built to Whitehorse. It was bought by Holland America in May of this year. Andrea took it on her Alaskan cruise and said it was incredibly scenic but the road parallels the track so I didn't take it.

The Carcross Desert is billed as the worlds smallest desert but they admit that the humidity and rainfall are too high for it to be a true desert.
